Half day - Hazardous materials are in use in many workplaces. They can range from cleaning products to materials that are added and used in manufacturing processes. Some environments may be hazardous simply because of the materials in use there, for example as dust in the air or due to a recent event such as a flood or fire. Employees need to be aware of the hazards of such materials and where they are likely to be encountered in the environments in which they work. Delegates will receive a certificate of attendance. Half day - This course is designed for those working with chemicals on a day to day basis and only occasionally. The hazards remain the same. This course provides both and introduction to chemical hazard awareness or can be a valuable refresher. Topics covered are: Legislation, Chemical classes, The main hazards of the chemical classes, Safe handling, Personal Protective Equipment (PPE). Delegates will receive a certificate of attendance.
2 hour sessions - This short training course introduces the delegates to the legislation governing pollution, spills and spill kits, the contents of spill kits and the methods of deployment in a safe and efficient manner. It is suitable for all staff who may be required to deploy spill kits following a spill incident - for example, digger/excavator drivers, plant operators, site operatives, groundworkers, tradesmen, site supervisors, site managers and SHE professionals. These courses are generally offered as a back to back package so that disruption the the work pattern is minimised. Two or three sessions can be given in one day. Maximum of 10 delegates per session. Delegates will receive a certificate of attendance.
1 day - This one day course has been designed for professional spill responders and those wishing to gain a more detailed technical and practical knowledge of responding to pollution incidents. The first part of the training includes the Pollution and Spill Kit Awareness training above followed by more detailed training on how to deploy spill kit materials and safely respond to a chemical spillage. Delegates will receive a certificate of attendance.
1 day - Larger organisations that store larger quantities of dangerous goods are at more risk of suffering a large spillage should things go badly wrong. From time to time they do. Understanding how to manage an incident on site and properly deploy a response team and the right equipment will be key to mitigating the incident and reduce the need to call in a costly clean-up company. With the right training and skills properly controlled incident management can save a company thousands if not tens of thousands of pounds in clean-up costs. Delegates will receive a certificate of attendance.
1 day - It is the responsibility of a filling station licensee and other organisations that store and dispense petrol to ensure that anyone employed to receive petrol deliveries must show competence gained by a combination of training and experience. Our 1 day course has been designed for Managers, Supervisors and other staff who are responsible for receiving deliveries of fuel on their site. Successful delegates will receive a certificate of competence issued by Mercury Training and Consultancy Services.
5 days - The Dangerous Goods Safety Adviser (DGSA) Directive requires all organisations involved in the transportation of dangerous goods to appoint a qualified DGSA. This course is designed for professionals whom wish to become DGSA qualified.
There are three areas specified by the SQA examination syllabus:
Delegates spend 2 days examining the ADR Agreement books and 3 days of examination preparation. Successful delegates will receive DGSA certificate from the Scottish Qualifications Authority (SQA) which is valid for 5 years.
Half day - The wide use of lithium batteries as a power source has raised some concerns with both users and those who transport them.
Following a number of high profile incidents, there are increasingly stringent national and international regulations on their movement as dangerous goods.

Half day - CoSHH regulations require employers to reduce expose of workers to hazardous substances where exposure cannot be eliminated. An understanding of CoSHH requirements is essential if workers are to understand the hazards and use the control measures put in place to reduce exposure through inhalation, absorption, ingestion or injection. Delegates will receive a certificate of attendance.
1 day - This training includes the Control of Substances Hazardous to Health Awareness above and goes on to examine the requirements of the CoSHH regulations in full as they apply to the company/organisation and the risk assessment process. Delegates will receive a certificate of attendance.
1 day - This training course is designed to give workers a general understanding of Health and Safety law such as The Health and Safety at Work etc. Act 1974. Employers and employees alike have duties under these regulations and it is important that employees are aware of them in order to maintain their own health and safety and of those that could be affected by their acts or omissions. Other health and Safety regulations apply and they may differ from company to company. Delegates will receive a certificate of attendance.
2 days - Managers and Supervisors have a heightened responsibility in regard to the health and safety of workers. This training course is designed to give Managers and Supervisors a more detailed understanding of Health and Safety law such as The Health and Safety at Work etc. Act 1974. Those in positions such as Managers and Supervisors hold positions of trust and therefore need to ensure that actions taken by them and information given to workers is not in breech of the law or best practice . Other health and Safety regulations apply and they may differ from company to company. Delegates will receive a certificate of attendance.
1 day - Designed to give those with the responsibility of writing risk assessments and method statements the knowledge, skill and confidence to do so. The risk assessment process must be suitable and sufficient but not be so complicated that those to which it applies does not understand it. The method statement should likewise be simple enough for workers to understand and adhere to. Delegates will receive a certificate of attendance.
Half day - Being a Fire Marshal is an appointment with duties that must be fully understood. The duties of a Fire Marshal should be drawn up with maximum safety in mind. The Fire Marshal is not a fire fighter and the duties should reflect this. Aiding evacuation and accounting for workers are part of the role. Delegates will receive a certificate of attendance.
